Dorothy Day House
Posted: Apr 10, 2010
On Saturday, March 20th, Ridgefield Girl Scouts took over
the Dorothy Day House in Danbury. Girls from 9th grade
Troops 50598 and 50524 spearheaded this effort.
Forty Girl Scout Troops from Ridgefield participated in this
event. The troops were able to donate approximately 200
boxes of Girl Scout cookies, 300 pairs of socks, several
dozen t-shirts and boxers, and 800 canned goods.
Along with this, several troops spent their Friday
afternoon preparing 100 bag lunches, 10 centerpieces,
and enough meatloaf dinner with apple pie to serve 120 people.
However, not only did the girls prepare meals for the day,
but older girl troops worked at the center stocking the
pantry and serving the meals. This is Ridgefield Girl
Scouts’ 3rd year working with the Dorothy Day House.
