Girl Scouts Make a Difference
Posted: Apr 14, 2010
Under the direction of Troop Leaders, Janet Linsey and Lisa Hurley, and parent, Gina Raymond, Junior Troop 10858 of Glastonbury began completing the last stage of their Bronze Award. This Troop is making the positive difference of the Bronze Award by embracing the needs of both the residents and staff members at South Park Inn, a homeless shelter in Hartford.

The Girl Scouts planned and hosted a party for the residents at the shelter. Special treats, games, and dancing were some of the party highlights. The event culminated with a birthday celebration for a 4-year girl at the shelter, complete with homemade cakes. The Troop then lined the hallway with parting gifts and favors for the residents.

After the event, the girls discussed how they wanted to continue making a difference in the lives of others and were pleased to see the happiness and response of the people at South Park Inn that day.
