Recycling Fun
Posted: Feb 23, 2011
Our girls have been very active and really enjoy recycling. They have collected, and sewn Juice pouches into tote bags and have all participated in creating & selling them. The funds used have gone directly to Animal Shelters & our local Soup Kitchen. For the Danbury Animal Welfare Society, the girls bought a large Kurunda bed for dogs, sponsored two needy cats, & bought paper plates; For Animals for Life in Middlebury, Ct., the girls bought gift cards to Pet Smart; For the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries (GWIM - Soup Kitchen), our girls have bought salads & meals, and held a snack drive "Kids collecting snacks for Kids" .

Middlebury Junior Girl Scout troop #64146 recently earned their Junior Aide Awards by helping Middlebury Daisy Troop #64000 earn their Green Petal for "Use Resources Wisely". The Juniors taught the little girls a Daisy song, how to recycle by turning juice cartons & milk jugs into bird feeders, make fashionable bracelets & belts out of recycled bottle caps, how to turn juice pouches into little purses and reinforce the importance of the phrase "reduce, reuse, recycle" for sustainability. The girls taught the Daisys in late December, before our record snow fall!!!
