Girl Scout Memories

Helping the Community
Posted: Dec 29, 2013
We try to do a couple projects a year to remind the girls that there are people less fortunate than them. We put together a Thanksgiving basket filled with food to bring to Spooner House, a local shelter in Shelton that helps homeless families. The girls wrote cards and decorated the box.
For Christmas, they "Adopted A Family" along with troop Shelton Junior Troop 60087. The Adopt A Family program helps children in the Shelton school system and their families.
The older girls bought presents for a 14 year old girl while our troop brought in presents for a 7 year old boy. He liked Star Wars and the game Trouble. The girls each wrote a card to the boy wishing him a happy holiday. We hope to be doing more work with Spooner House in the spring.
