My Fondest Girl Scout Memory by Dottie Posted: Oct 4, 2006
My best times in Girl Scouting have been as a leader. As a grandmother leader I had a girl in my troop with a learning disability. She was a very sweet girl who joined on a scholarship. Girl Scouts supplied her books, pins and dues. I remember at the Me and My Guy Dance her mother’s fiancé came up to me and gave me a donation for Family Partnership. It was a fairly large dollar amount, so I asked him if he would like change. He quickly said no, explaining that Girl Scouts had caused a positive change in his future step-daughter’s life and it was worth every penny. He was so grateful to Girl Scouting and what it had done for her. No amount of words or money could replace the joy his words gave to me.
