Girl Scouts of Connecticut

A Special Notice for Senior Girl Scouts, Age 16+

Our Council by-laws empower the Board of Directors to appoint up to two girl members to this important decision-making group. We invite Senior Girl Scouts, age 16 and over, who are interested in being appointed as a member of the Board of Directors to complete the application and forward a letter of recommendation from your Troop Leader or teacher no later than April 1, 2008. Hard copy applications and all letters of recommendation should be sent to:

Margaret Tantillo
Girl Scouts of Connecticut
340 Washington Street
Hartford, CT 06106

Here's a list of the most important duties and responsibilities of a girl Board member:

  • Girl members shall serve as consultants to the Board, supporting the Board's commitment to building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
  • Girl members are expected to attend 5 Board meetings per year, held in the evenings at 6:00 p.m., and lasting for two hours. Meetings are held at various locations across the state.
  • While best efforts will be made to arrange for girl members to ride with other Board Members, girl members must provide their own transportation to board meetings if no other arrangements can be made.
  • Girl members are non-voting members, and shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year, and may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms.
