BRING GIRLZ R.U.L.E™ TO YOUR AREA
Girlz R.U.L.E. ™ (Respect, Understand, Lead, Empower) is an anti-bullying program designed for girls. Girl Scouts of Connecticut has developed this signature initiative and preparations are underway to expand its reach throughout the state.
Volunteers are needed to facilitate this program in your community to girls in grades three through eight, which may be offered during school hours, immediately after school, or in one-day workshops or events.
A free training for facilitators is scheduled Sunday, February 5, 2012 from noon-5:00 p.m. at Camp AnSeOx in Oxford. Registration is required.

Cookies for Heroes is a service project that allows customers to send Girl Scout cookies to military personnel serving overseas and here at home. Visit CookiesForHeroes.com and help us fill the virtual truck by purchasing cookies or send a CookiEmail. Girl Scouts will ensure the cookies are delivered to our military personnel. It’s a great way for everyone to support Girl Scouting and the women and men serving our country.

Get letter writing tips and help in choosing the appropriate recognition for your local Volunteers directly from a member of the GSOFCT Recognitions Committee! Feel free to share what you learn with the rest of your Service Unit. Registration in advance is required. The Adult Recognitions Training Workshops will be held at various locations across the state, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m.

Look for the ME in media and learn how you can shape media—for yourself, your community and the world.
Stories are told everywhere and in all kinds of formats – in movies by big Hollywood studios, online by bloggers and through social networks, through the clothes chosen by stylists for a fashion spread in a magazine, through the photos chosen by a newspaper editor. MEdia helps girls think about who is responsible for telling all the stories they see around them and how to use their story to help "re-make" the forms of media they see around them.

Hop on the GSOFCT bus and head to Washington D.C. for Nation’s Capitol’s Rock the Mall sing-a-long. Our bus leaves Friday, and returns on Sunday. Rock the Mall happens on Saturday afternoon, so there will be plenty of time to explore this great city. We’ll be staying at a hotel within walking distance or you can choose to use the metro. Fee for this trip includes, bus, hotel, most meals, T-shirt, and participation in Rock the Mall.

On August 7-9, there will be a camporee taster at Camp Pattagansett. Troops will have their own mini-adventure sharing campfires with other troops, traveling by bus to the International visiting Day and returning for more adventures at Pattagansett. Need help identifying the appropriate award for a Volunteer?
Whether or not each volunteer you nominate would be approved for the award requested depends on the Letter of endorsement you write. Get letter writing tips and help in choosing the appropriate recognition for your local Volunteers directly from a member of the GSOFCT Recognitions Committee! Feel free to share what you learn with the rest of your Service Unit. Registration in advance is required.

The Adult Recognitions Training Workshops will be held at various locations across the state, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m.
Two locations are available for February 6:
Hartford Service Center, 340 Washington Street, or
Torrington Service Center, 663 East Main Street

Girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grades are invited to join!
Look for the ME in media and learn how you can shape media—for yourself, your community and the world.
Stories are told everywhere and in all kinds of formats – in movies by big Hollywood studios, online by bloggers and through social networks, through the clothes chosen by stylists for a fashion spread in a magazine, through the photos chosen by a newspaper editor. MEdia helps girls think about who is responsible for telling all the stories they see around them and how to use their story to help "re-make" the forms of media they see around them.
Have fun while learning about the media. Meet professionals who will share their career experience with you!

4:30pm-6:30pm - activities to celebrate girls health will include dancing, music, cheerleading and healthy snacks
All girls who attend will receive a “Y Dog” Patch.
