Breakfast Honors Community Leader

December 14, 2007

December 11, 2007 —

Approximately 200 friends and supporters of the Girls Scouts of Connecticut stepped out Friday Morning, December 7, 2007, to honor Community Leader and Entrepreneur Diane Alverio at the 11th Annual Breakfast Badge Awards at the Hartford Club.

Diane Alverio is the owner of D. Alverio & Co., a public relations and marketing firm with offices located in Hartford. She serves on various boards and actively writes for the Hartford Courant and CT Lawyer Magazine and has been recognized with numerous regional and National awards, including Hispanic Business Magazine’s – 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the U.S. In addition, Alverio was a Girl Scout Volunteer and a Girl Scout Leader to two Girl Scout troops.

Partnering with the community is a natural fit for Girl Scouts according to Jennifer Smith Turner, CEO Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

“Forming a partnership with an extraordinary community leader such as Diane Alverio sets the bar high for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut . She is both a community leader and an entrepreneur, exemplifying everything Girl Scouts is all about.”

This event raised funds for traditional and innovative programs delivered by dedicated volunteers and professional staff that offer Girls Scouts in grades K through 12 enrichment, educational, recreational, and life-skill activities. These programs help girls prepare themselves for the challenges of today and the future by instilling positive values, building leadership skills, and developing self-esteem.
