Girl Scouts of Connecticut Receives $25,000 Grant from SBM Charitable Foundation
June 6, 2012
Girl Scouts of Connecticut has received a generous $25,000 grant from SBM Charitable Foundation.
True to their commitment to better the lives of those living east of the river, SBM Charitable Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of Girl Scouts of Connecticut since 2005.
Approximately $12,000 of this year’s grant will support underserved Girl Scout troops in Manchester and East Hartford. The remainder of the funds will be used for Camp Merrie-Wood camperships (camp scholarships) for underserved girls, lodge improvements, and to continue a tennis program as part of Camp Merrie-Wood’s offerings.
“With the support of the SBM Charitable Foundation, we will be able to reach and support underserved girls in Manchester and East Hartford,” said Jennifer Smith Turner, CEO, Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “We’re also pleased to receive support for Camp Merrie-Wood, as summer camp helps girls develop their self-esteem and confidence through a variety of fun, traditional camp activities. We are grateful to SBM Charitable Foundation for their generous gift.”
