Girl Scouts of Connecticut has received an $18,000 grant from SBM Charitable Foundation that will make it possible for East Hartford and Manchester girls to attend summer camp at Camp Merrie-Wood.
The generous support from SBM Charitable Foundation will provide financial assistance to girls in the two towns, a tennis program, and access to transportation. Funding will also enhance Camp Merrie-Wood facilities to improve year-round troop camping experiences.
“With the support of SBM Charitable Foundation, we will ensure more girls from the East Hartford and Manchester get to explore, have fun, and make new friends at Camp Merrie-Wood,” said Mary Barneby, CEO, Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “These funds will provide a summer of fun, learning, and activities – and an opportunity for girls to explore the wonders of the outdoors while further developing their leadership skills.”
The SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc., perpetuating the work of the former Savings Bank of Manchester, is committed to bettering the lives of those who live and work predominantly east of the river in Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties.
