Tee Off for the 12th Annual Housatonic Classic Golf Tournament

June 30, 2008

Golf Outing to Benefit Girl Scouts of Connecticut

The 12th Annual Housatonic Classic Golf Tournament to benefit Girl Scouts of Connecticut will take place Monday, July 21 at Tashua Knolls Golf Club in Trumbull from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with both scramble and best ball formats; shotgun tee-off to start at 10:00 a.m. Entry fee is $225 per player; which includes cocktail reception, lunch, awards dinner, golf cart, green fees and range. A silent auction and drawing will take place at dinner. Openings are still available for sponsors, individual golfers, sponsored foursomes, tee and cart sponsors.

Since 2001, Girl Scouts has worked in partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association, the US Golf Association and the Fairfield County Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association to teach girls to play golf. Their officials report that more than 120 Girl Scouts are currently enrolled this summer in golf lessons with the Fairfield County Chapter of the LPGA/US Golf Association.

Net proceeds from the Housatonic Classic will support Girl Scout leadership development programs that help girls in grades K - 12 bring out the best in themselves and their communities. Through effective Girl Scout programs, girls are encouraged to discover the world around them, connect with the needs of others, and take action to make the world a better place. Trained Girl Scout volunteers and professional staff help girls prepare for the challenges of today and the future by establishing positive values, building leadership skills, and developing self-esteem.
