To the Editor:
I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who supported Girl Scouts of Connecticut's cookie program this year. While the economic downturn has taken a toll on all of us, your continued support of Girl Scouting through our annual cookie program is greatly appreciated. Every box sold helps Girl Scouts of Connecticut provide quality programs dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence and character who discover in themselves the ability to make the world a better place. Our girls need Girl Scouting more than ever, and the 46,000 girls in 169 cities and towns served by Girl Scouts of Connecticut are grateful for your support.
The Girl Scout cookie program teaches girls the principles of goal setting, organization, communication, teamwork, sales techniques, and financial management. This year, Girl Scouts sold more than 2.5 million boxes of cookies and sent over 70,000 boxes to our military personnel overseas and in the USA as part of our Gift of Caring program.
While we each have our own preferred Girl Scout cookie, the results from our statewide Cookie Vote this year showed that Samoas are Connecticut's 2009 cookie of choice. Thank you to everyone who voted for your favorite Girl Scout cookie.
As the largest girl-driven organization in the state, Girl Scouts of Connecticut proudly celebrates and salutes all of our supporters. With your help, we can continue to provide the incredible leadership experiences for girls that are the hallmark of Girl Scouting.
