A Beautiful and Beneficial Day on the Links for
Girl Scouts of Connecticut
September 3, 2009 - Participants in this year's Girl Scouts of Connecticut Golf Tournament enjoyed a rain-free day of golf and fundraising on August 31 at the Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield. Golfers from across the state came out to play on one of Connecticut's top public courses and helped raise nearly $22,000 for Girl Scouts of Connecticut's exceptional programs and services for young girls.
"Everyone on the course had a terrific time and we were thrilled to see so much support for Girl Scouts of Connecticut," said Diane Koster Vice President of Fund Development and Communications for Girl Scouts of Connecticut. "It was such a great event that we have already booked the course again for our tournament next year."
This year's tournament highlights included a silent auction, luncheon, dinner, and an awards ceremony for winners of a variety of contests such as Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Hole-in-One. In addition, each participant walked away with one of Lyman Orchards' famous pies!
The lead sponsors for the event were Webster Bank and Crazy Bruce's Liquors. Proceeds from Girl Scouts of Connecticut's Golf Tournament will support enrichment, educational, recreational, and personal development programs that help girls in grades K - 12 bring out the best in themselves and their communities. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience offers girls the lifetime skills they need to discover their personal best; connect with others to build healthy relationships; and take action in their communities to make the world a better place.
