Senator Edith G. Prague
As Commissioner, she established a statewide health insurance program, originally called H.I.C.A.P. and now operating under the name CHOICES, offering counseling to all seniors who have questions about insurance coverage through the Area Agencies on Aging. She was instrumental in helping to establish the first Assisted Living Facilities in the state. Senator Prague continues her leadership role as the Senate Chair of the Labor and Public Employees Committee, with cognizance over matters concerning all state employees and state labor law governing the private sector. She is also the Senate chair of the Committee on Aging after recently winning full status for it. She is vice-chair of the Appropriations Committee and serves on the Public Health Committee as well. Senator Prague has earned a place of distinction as one of the state’s leading advocates for senior citizens and improved access to affordable healthcare for all residents. She also fights tirelessly for strict standards and tough consequences in her effort to reduce the incidence of drunk driving in Connecticut. Senator Prague, a resident of Columbia, is the mother of four daughters, Susan, Shelley, Benay and Joanne, and the grandmother of nine, Josh Lundberg, Sam Lundberg, Nathan Prague-Doyle, Matthew Smith, Brian Doyle, Christopher Doyle, Katie Doyle, Michael Doyle and Timothy Doyle. |
