Camp Carlson provides a diverse Girl Scout day camp experience for girls entering grades 1-12 where they can meet new friends and have fun in an outdoor environment. Located on 38 acres at the top of South Mountain, the camp overlooks Bristol and the Berkshire Mountains. Sessions offer exciting themes incorporated into general camp program: pool swimming, arts & crafts, sports and games, nature study, hiking, cookouts and more. Leadership opportunities and special programs are available for older girls.

Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Breakfast bunch is available at 7:00 a.m. for an additional fee.

Bus service was provided within or near Bristol, Burlington, Canton, Cheshire, Cromwell, Farmington, Harwinton, Meriden, New Britain, Plainville, Southington, Thomaston, Torrington, Wallingford, and Wolcott. Bus schedules will change based on enrollment. 

All girls are welcome - Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts.

 Typical Day at Camp


      

Leadership Opportunities for Older Girls:

LEAD (Leadership, Education, Adventure, and Development) - For girls entering grades 9-12 who are ready to take on the leadership role of helping younger girls enjoy all the great experiences at day camp. Participants will receive Program Aide Core Training and LEAD Training to ensure the knowledge, tools, and skills necessary to succeed as a LEAD. LEADs assist Unit Leaders and Program Staff by helping involve campers in program.  

 
Employment Opportunities

Volunteer and Employment Opportunities - We are looking for your special skills, spirit, and appreciation of children. Camp programs include swimming, hiking, campers, nature, sports, games, horseback riding, dramatics, singing, boating, cookouts, canoeing, and living in the outdoors. Enjoy the fun and rewards of meeting and working with other adults and children in the outdoors. Adults will receive training in outdoor skills, teamwork, health, and safety standards. Check back in early 2015 for summer camp employment and volunteer opportunities.
