Clatter Valley Day Camp

Clatter Valley Day Camp is a one week day camp held from July 15-20, 2013 in New Milford, CT. Our camp is operated by Girl Scouts of Connecticut, staffed by GSOFCT volunteers, and hosted at Clatter Valley Park by the New Milford Parks & Recreation Department. CVDC has been organized and staffed by the New Milford Girl Scouts for over forty years. Our program has grown from a three day neighborhood event to a full week with girls coming from as far away as Florida to attend.

On a daily basis our girls get to play games, make crafts, and participate in brook study. One of their all-time favorite activities is learning how to shoot with bows at our archery range. For many of our campers, this is their first real camp experience. We provide a true camping opportunity with outdoor cooking and a one night sleepover in tents (weather permitting) from Friday, July 19 to Saturday, July 20, 2013.

One of the most important activities for our girls is making friends. Many of our campers return year after year and grow in our program to become Program Aides or adult staff and many of our volunteers return year after year to continue this time-honored tradition. Camp Director Kim Buser is returning, along with many of her key administrative staff and unit leaders.

Camp operates Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Parents are encouraged to carpool. There is no bus service.

Open House

Open House is Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Our crafts and program for the week are centered on our theme, "Lights, Camera, Action!" Each day we will create, play, learn, sing, dance, and celebrate together using our theme as our guide. For girls in grades 1 - 7. FEE: $165

Girls in grade 8 and up also have a chance to be a Program Aide. Our PA program section also involves 24 hours of pre-camp training in such areas as first aid, CPR, wide games, and interpersonal communication skills. Program Aides are girls going into 8th grade through seniors in high school. Our PAs are instrumental in the day–to–day operations of the camp. They build their leadership skills while having fun with younger girls and making new friends. Many girls choose to apply their leadership time at camp towards community service hours required by many schools. FEE: $75
