Cecilia Woods

- was appointed in 2007 by President Pro Tempore Donald Williams to the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.  She  currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Commission.  She was most recently Deputy Chief of Staff and Research Director in the Connecticut State Senate for the Senate Democrats where she was employed for 23 years. She also served as Chief of Staff for the late Congressman Adam Benjamin of Gary, Indiana and was a Carter White House Aide in the late 1970s.  Ms. Woods, a graduate of Drew University, holds a Master's Degree in Urban Studies from Occidental College and was a National Urban Fellow at Yale University.  In addition to the PCSW, she has most recently devoted her time to the Parents' Association at the The Independent Day School, in Middlefield, CT and the Greater Hartford Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.  She is an active member of the Martin Luther King Scholarship Committee of Middletown, CT, a member of St. Justin's Parish in Hartford and was both a Brownie and a Girl Scout in her youth.  She lives in Middletown with her husband, Glenn and her son, William who is presently attending Xavier High School.
