Girl Scouts of Connecticut: Loretta Berry

Loretta Berry is the President and Founder of Out of Home America, Inc. She was born in 1952, and is a graduate of Noah Webster School, where she was a Girl Scout for many years. She attended high school in West Hartford, where she graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy, and then continued her education at University of Hartford, Manchester Community College, and the University of Notre Dame-Special Studies in Outdoor Advertising.
In 1973, Loretta began her career working for small Hartford-based advertising agencies, then selling billboards in 1975 for a privately owned company, Griese Advertising. She served as an account executive then was promoted to sales manager in their four market areas in the Northeast.
Eight years later, Loretta’s entrepreneurial spirit arose. She founded New England Outdoor Advertising in July 1983, and has been at the helm of her own firm for over
28 years. Her company, Out of Home America, represents more than 100 outdoor advertising companies globally, serving clients in the fields of Aerospace, Financial, Education, Entertainment, Retail and Business-to-Business arenas. In 1986, Loretta was honored by the Association of Entrepreneurial Women as “The Woman of the Year.” In 1988, she was awarded the Matrix Award by Women in Communications, Central Connecticut Chapter.
Other professional affiliations include membership in National Association of Women Owned Businesses, The Advertising Club of Connecticut (serving on the Board of Directors for three years), The Connecticut Women’s Council, The Outdoor Advertising Association of Connecticut, Outdoor Advertising Association of America, and the New York Dinosaurs, an elite group of twenty billboard professionals.
Loretta enjoys mentoring women entrepreneurs, traveling internationally with her husband, William Pease, gardening, sailing, and Block Island clamming. She currently resides in Columbia, and summers in Old Lyme and on Block Island, RI, with her husband and their Dalmatian Stormy.
