Mertie Terry 

- is a Girl Scout Leader of a diverse troop in Bloomfield Connecticut as well as the Bloomfield Coordinator for Girl Scouts.  Through Girl Scouting, she organized the first mother - daughter banquet held in her town. 

Mertie, along with her husband, organized the first Cromwell High School Booster Club, she also served on the Cromwell Board of Education for eight years, was appointed by the Governor to the Governor's Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities, co-founded the Governor's Coalition on Youth with Disabilities which is dedicated to supporting Connecticut high school seniors with disabilities who were furthering their education, served approximately six years on the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut State University System (Western, Eastern, Central and Southern Universities), and is a founding member of the Women Advocates for Youth (The Way) for the Cromwell Children's Home.

Mertie has also earned several recognitions including the past recipient of Women in Leadership Award for the Hartford Region YWCA Tenth Anniversary celebration, past recipient of the Waterbury United Way Coordinator of the Year, and past recipient of Cromwell Woman of the Year.

Merie is a member of the Board of Trustees for Klingberg Family Services, Chairman of the Association of Retired Northeast Utilities, editor of the NUVets Newsletter, member of Soldiers Angels that lend support to our young troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is now the newly elected Registrar of Voters in Cromwell. 

Currently Mertie is retired from her career at Northeast Utilities where she worked as an EEO, Affirmative Action, hiring, labor relations, training, community service and counselor. She currently resides in Cromwell, CT.
