Katoya

Katoya Pool
Katoya Poolhouse Shower
Camp Katoya built a new pool for Summer of 2014, with the ability to host 90 swimmers! The shower house and changing rooms were also rehabbed. The new pool house is equipped with an on-demand hot water tank and is handicap accessible. The pool also has an remote-control lift to accommodate any girl with physical disabilities to be able to swim. The pool will be open this year June 29 – August 31. To reserve use of the pool contact registration@gsofct.org.
Katoya Bathroom Trailer In Fall of 2014 a new bathroom trailer was purchased as part of the camp's previous capital campaign. The new bathroom trailer is fully accessible and has six flush toilets, two sinks, and four changing stalls. The trailer serves as the main bathroom at camp. Prior to the trailer the only bathroom facilities on the property were the porto-potties.

Forestry
Maria Pratt has competed two phases of forest management on the property. Yankee trails is in the middle of completing a Forest Management Plan at the rear of the property. The project is slated for completion this spring. Both properties were cut to ensure new forest growth and to help the overcrowded forest to continue to expand. -Updated 3/24/15

THANK YOU to Property Volunteers!

UPS at Merrie-Wood Energizer at Katoya

UPS came out for the second year in a row to Camp Merrie-Wood to help with the opening of camp and general Spring Clean up.  Not only did they stack over three cords of firewood, they helped to build benches, picnic tables, and general spring cleanup projects. A big Thank You to UPS for supporting Camp Merrie-Wood and the Girl Scouts of Connecticut Camp Properties!

Energizer came out for its annual clean up and work day at Camp Katoya. Not only did they donate close to $5,000 in materials for the day they, dug a ditch in less than an hour to house the new electrical line for the new bathroom trailer. They worked tirelessly in pouring rain building a deck for the portos, building a fence enclosure around the garbage area, stripping and putting on a new roof, general landscaping, heavy duty cleaning of both lodges and set up of all the tents and tarps used for summer camp. Thank you Energizer/Schick for being a constant supporter of Camp Katoya!
