Birthday Program for St. Joseph Parenting Center

Posted by:   Alexandra on Nov 8, 2012
Town:         Ridgefield
Troop:        50450

What issue did your Take Action project address?
My project was meant to make children feel loved and appreciated and to let them know that someone is thinking about them on their special day.

What was your Take Action Project? Who did you involve in your project?
My project was to create Birthday packages that have all the things you would need for a party (cups, plates, cake mix, frosting, candles, streamers) and a gift for each child. I wrapped over 55 gifts so far and have more to go. The parents get to choose their bag and gift when they come for the parenting classes. Depending on what age their child/children are they get to choose a gift for that age range. I had help from my troop and troop leaders, my parents and neighbors, The whole community and St. Joseph Parenting Center.

What were the results? How did it affect the community?
The results were very positive, the director of the parenting program is so appreciative and the children in the community will get to have a birthday gift and party.

What did you learn from the experience?
That I love to help people as much as I can and I love to make kids feel happy. I also learned that some people do not have birthday celebrations of any sort.
