box top collection

What issue did your Take Action project address?
Providing money for the schools of our town for supplies and other classroom needs.

What was your Take Action Project? Who did you involve in your project?
My take action project was setting up a rotating collection of box tops for the different schools. Each month a different school would get the collected box tops. We included all of the PTA presidents who'd pick up the box tops. We also included people at Founders hall and the recycling center (locations of collecting boxes).

What were the results? How did it affect the community?
Well we were able to collect over 600 box tops in total. And since we had about 6 schools participating we were able to get about 100 box tops to each school. This then could help the schools to buy necessary supplies without having to dip into their own budget.

What did you learn from the experience?
That you have to work really hard to get people to listen but you can't give up when they don't. Also that you have to go out there and put yourself out there so that people know what you are doing and are willing to help.
