Put your observation skills to the test and take math outdoors in Nature Investigators-a hands-on adventure designed just for Juniors! In this exciting program, girls will explore nature like scientists and artists, uncovering patterns, symmetry, measurements, and data through real-world outdoor challenges. From building spiderwebs to designing gardens, girls will connect math and the natural world in fun, creative ways while completing the Shapes in Nature and Numbers in Nature badges.
"Math Meets Nature" Highlights:
- Track, Tally & Graph Nature: Observe natural objects, collect data, and create visual representations like graphs and charts.
- Discover Symmetry & Tessellations: Build spiderwebs, explore radial symmetry, and find repeating patterns in nature and design.
- Measure & Map with Math: Measure temperature, compare leaf lengths, and graph the data using different units of measure.
- Plan & Plot a Garden: Use diagrams, grids, and square-foot planning to design and map out your own growing space.
Badge Alignment: Juniors will complete both their Shapes in Nature and Numbers in Nature badges! Badges INCLUDED in the proce of registration!
Who Can Attend?
Open to registered Girl Scout Juniors. Adult supervision is required. All adults attending must have a registration for this event and must comply with all standards based on GSUSA and GSOFCT policies and procedures. Girl Scouts not attending with a troop must have a parent or guardian with current GSUSA membership register to attend with them. No tagalongs (siblings, unregistered adults) will be permitted to stay at this event. Please review ratios for supervision for Girl Scout events before registering for this event. Troop volunteers are encouraged to check GSUSA Safety Activity checkpoints for activities to ensure Girl Scouts are ready to participate.
