Put your outdoor leadership to the test in this knot-tying skills session for older girls! Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will dive into campsite problem-solving using ropes and practical knotwork. We'll explore more complex applications and challenge participants with real-world uses like drip line set-up, gear hauling, and lashing. Finish strong with a high-speed knot relay race and team challenge.
Program Highlights:
- Master 3 Essential Knots: Square knot,
clove hitch, taut-line hitch-plus demos of bowline and highwayman's
hitch
- Apply Your Knots: Practice tent set-up, drip line
tensioning, and gear hanging
- Team Relay & Problem
Scenarios: Put your knot skills to the test in timed activities
- Rope Care & Hanking: Learn how to maintain and store rope for
easy reuse
Badge Alignment: Aligns with steps for Cadette Trailblazing, Senior Adventure Camper, and Ambassador Survival Camper badge programs.
Who Can Attend?
Open to registered Girl Scout Cadettes,
Seniors, and Abasadors. Adult supervision is required. All adults
attending must have a registration for this event and must comply with
all standards based on GSUSA and GSOFCT policies and procedures. Girl
Scouts not attending with a troop must have a parent or guardian with
current GSUSA membership register to attend with them. No tagalongs
(siblings, unregistered adults) will be permitted to stay at this
event. Please review ratios for supervision for Girl Scout events
before registering for this event. Troop volunteers are encouraged to
check GSUSA Safety Activity checkpoints for activities to ensure Girl
Scouts are ready to participate.
