Date: Wed Oct 29, 5:15 PM EDT - Wed Oct 29, 6:00 PM EDT
When disaster strikes, engineers turn to robotics for help! In this
environmental challenge, Girl Scouts will experiment with different
oil spill cleanup techniques, then design and program robotic models
to aid in cleanup efforts. They'll explore real-world robotics
applications and discuss the importance of technology in
conservation.
Key Activities:
Interactive discussions on how waste affects wildlife,
oceans, and ecosystems.
Brainstorm ways to prevent and
mitigate oil spills.
Design a robot that could help to
clean up oil spills using knowledge of sensors.
Roll up
your sleeves and attempt to clean up an oil spill!
Badge Tie-In:
Senior: Designing Robots (Step 1 & 2), Programming
Robots (Step 3)
Ambassador: Designing Robots (Step 1
& 2), Programming Robots (Step 3)
Completing this
event will help Seniors and Ambassadors begin working towards their
Designing Robots badges and Programming Robot badges. This program
fosters a love for science and engineering. Early registration
closes on September 29th at 5:00 PM ($12), and the final deadline to
register is October 14th at 5:00 PM ($14)- don't delay and register today!
Adults who register for this program will serve as
hands-on volunteers. All volunteers will be expected to arrive early
for a brief orientation and to assist actively throughout the program.
Thank you for supporting Girl Scout experiences!
