The Orange Historical Society is able to tour Girl Scouts in two historical homes. One of them, the Stone-Otis House, is an 1830 homestead set with furnishings of the time. Tours offer information on the life of two families. The other house is the Bryan-Andrew house which was built in 1740 and is the oldest house in Orange. The home is furnished in the period and at this facility, they offer a hands-on presentation, a tour, and informational material on Mr. Bryan.
They can offer butter-making or candle-making. The butter would take 20 minutes with 4 girls working at a time. The candles can be done with the entire group. It can take 20-30 minutes to complete a small candle.

It was designed by their daughter, Theodate Pope Riddle, who was a trail-blazing architect, an entrepreneur and a supporter of educational innovation during her lifetime. The museum offers a glimpse into the past as it is filled with the original furnishings and collections of the Pope family. Its crowning jewel is the exquisite collection of French Impressionist artworks by famed artists that include Degas, Monet, Manet, Cassatt, and Whistler. Alexa took her life at 14 years of age. SHE MATTERED. The tragic loss of Alexa compelled me to tell her story to raise awareness and educate others about the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying. This mission is accomplished through personal presentations and a website I created called SHE MATTERED. Sharing Alexa’s experiences enables me to shed light on the issue of depression in adolescents and the relationship between depression, bullying, and suicide.
My hope is that the Girl Scouts and leaders who attend my presentation will realize they have the power to change the outcome. I want to promote the message that kindness, tolerance and inclusion MATTER.
Visit our website to learn more about Alexa and what my presentation can offer the Girl Scouts. Minimal group size required. Several Girl Scout troops can host together.
