Embark on an adventure with fellow Girl Scouts in the CT State Parks "Sky's the Limit Hiking Challenge"! This year's theme, "Cross Your Trees and Dot Your Skies," encourages participants to explore 15 designated state parks and forests, observing how nature connects everything. By visiting all 15 locations, participants will "connect the dots" on a map, forming the shape of the Connecticut State Parks shield sign.
Trail Highlights: Hike scenic CT state parks with Girl Scout-led groups, Learn trail safety, hiking tips, and nature observation skills, Capture photos at each location to meet the CT Parks Challenge requirements. Session 5 hike length: approximately 2.5 miles out and back.
* Trail Details: The combined Upper and Lower Vista Trails form a 2.5-mile loop with moderate elevation changes.
* Points of Interest: Overlooks of the Salmon River and Moodus Reservoir, diverse habitats, and remnants of historical structures.
* Planning Considerations: Trails are well-marked; carry binoculars for birdwatching.
Note: Participation in the Girl Scout-led hikes is optional and supports the completion of the Sky's the Limit Hiking Challenge. However, Girl Scouts must independently submit their entries to the CT Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) to complete the state challenge. Who Can Attend? This program is open to Daisies through Ambassadors. Individual Girl Scouts may attend with a registered parent/guardian, or as part of a troop with appropriate ratio adults. Adults must be registered members and have completed a background check per GSUSA and GSOFCT policies.

Additional Notes: Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water, snacks, bug spray, and a camera or phone for photo documentation. Hikes vary in difficulty; a list of dates, locations, and hike details are provided separately.
