Ahoy, Girl Scouts! Ever wonder what it takes to become a sailor? Join us for a thrilling 
overnight adventure at Mystic Seaport Museum and learn the ropes - literally! During this 
immersive maritime experience, you'll step aboard historic vessels, climb rigging (weather 
permitting), try your hand at traditional sailor skills, and even learn to sail a real boat on the 
Mystic River. This is your chance to live the life of a Mighty Mariner!

 

Sleeping Accomodations: 

Participants have the choice between 2 sleeping arrangements: 

  • Sleep belowdecks on the historic vesselJoseph Conrad (limit 50 people for this option). Joseph Conrad is available mid-March to mid-June, and September to mid-November.

  • Sleep in your own tent on the Museum's Village Green (limit 25 tents for this option). Tents on the Green available mid-March to mid-November.

Key Activities

  • Climb the rigging aboard the historic Joseph Conrad (weather permitting)
  • Learn essential sailor skills like knot-tying and rope work
  • Sail a Dyer Dhow in the Mystic River

Who Can Attend?

This overnight is open to Juniors and Adults.

 

  • Individual Girl Scouts must attend with a registered parent/guardian. Troops must meet required girl-to-adult safety ratios.
  • Adults are responsible for Girl Scout behavior and must remain with their group at all times.
  • Girl Scout membership is required for all youth and adults attending GSOFCT events.

Adults attending overnight programs must havea current GSUSA membership and an approved GSOFCT background check on file.

Girl Scouts not attending with a troop must register with a parent or guardian who holds a current GSUSA membership.

 

Please Note: All adults in attendance must have a valid background check and be a current GSOFCT member. If you are unsure about your background check status or need to complete one, please contact Customer Care at 1-800-922-2770 or customercare@gsofct.org prior to the event.


Registration Information

 

📝 Early Registration Deadline: April 18 at 5:00 p.m. - $95 per person 

 

📝 Registration Deadline: May 2 at 5:00 p.m. - $117 per person


This program needs at least 12-15 Girl Scouts to make the magic happen! If we don't
reach that number, we may need to cancel-so invite a friend to join the fun!


📌 Additional Notes:

  • Dinner will not be provided. Please have participants eat prior to arrival.

  • Breakfast will be provided.

  • Cost includes Museum admission, accommodations, breakfast, and all activities.

  • Financial assistance may be available. If cost is a barrier to participation, please reach out to Customer Care prior to the registration deadline.

  • If you or your Girl Scout has dietary restrictions, please contact Customer Care after registering.

  • Sailing is only for Girl Scouts, please be mindful of this. 

  • A detailed packing list, rules & expectations, and the full event schedule will be sent closer to the event date.

This event is faciliated by the Mystic Seaport Museum. All activities are led by Mystic Seaport Museum's trained maritime educators and sailing staff.
