An Officer and His Canine Partner; To Protect and to Serve

In the spirit of community building and trust, police departments are actively engaged in programs and activities that introduce citizens to the world of law enforcement. Join us for a very special Behind the Scenes event with the Danbury Police Department.

What to Expect:

  • Be inspired! What is like to wear the uniform? Learn about the career of a police officer whose job can include running toward danger. Hear tips about how to prepare for a law enforcement career.
  • Enjoy a behind the scenes tour! Through the courtesy of the Danbury Police Department, you will have a special tour which may include police briefing room, dispatch area, booking, holding cells and cruisers.
  • Watch a Canine Officer demonstration!  Highly-trained dogs work as a team with police to perform many specialized and sometimes dangerous functions. Today we will meet a K-9-unit (a dog and his officer/handler) and witness a demonstration of how they work together.
  • Participate in a yummy police tradition! The "cops and donuts" tradition began back in the 1940's when 24-hour donut shops provided overnight officers with a safe place to have coffee, fill out paperwork and take a break. Today we honor the tradition! Donuts will be served!

💡 Note:  Girl Scouts: Be advised that--as a professional police department-circumstances may arise that affect planning. All effort will be made to ensure a successful program.
