Quinnipiac University is hosting its annual “Camp CEO” with the Girl Scouts of Connecticut, where high schoolers learn about being businesswomen.
“I really like the program. It's a really good opportunity to meet other Girl Scouts,” said Ca-Mi McGee, a three-time Camp CEO participant.
McGee and 20 other young female entrepreneurs with Girl Scouts of Connecticut have spent the week learning from Quinnipiac University professors and top female executives in the state.
The girls go through a rigorous course, picking up new marketing and financial skills. By the end of the week, they’re pitching their business to the professors and their mentors.
“It gives me a good college experience. And it's getting a good feel for how college life would be and the responsibilities that come with it. And I really like the CEOs and all the people that run it,” McGee said.
McGee and a group of her peers have spent the week curating a business called ‘The Chaotic Garden.’
“Essentially, our mission was to create more spaces for pollinators because there’s been a decline of them recently,” said Alejandra Reyes, a Camp CEO participant.
