The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is the only aquarium devoted to Long Island Sound, the "Estuary of National Significance" just outside its doors.
Their marine population includes sharks, stingrays, harbor seals, sea turtles, otters, jellies, and more. The Aquarium also exhibits tropical travelers that follow the Gulf Stream north to our waters. Plus, they have some other fun animals, from tamarins to meerkats. They also offer many touch experiences including sturgeon, stingrays, sharks, jellyfish, and intertidal animals.
The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk offers badge programs for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. These programs feature Aquarium animals and exhibits, and a hands-on activity to help fulfill one or two requirements for earning the badge or journey! Scout groups can also book educational programs, including their Career Tour which explores the various careers of people working at the Aquarium – from Animal Husbandry to Conservation.
In addition, each spring, the Aquarium hosts a Girl Scout Day featuring discounted admission and programs. Plus, Girl Scout troops can join a group sleepover at the Aquarium, offered Friday and Saturday nights throughout the school year.
