(Hamden, Conn.) – November 14, 2025 – The 16,000 youth members of Girl Scouts of Connecticut certainly understand the famous adage: “hard work reaps great rewards.” Through earning badges, pursuing leadership awards, and developing entrepreneurship and money-earning skills, Girl Scouts gain the confidence, experience, and resilience that prepare them for college, careers, and community leadership.
In recognition of this dedication, Quinnipiac University today announced the creation of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut Achievement Scholarship, a $23,000-per-year award—totaling $92,000 over four years—for one outstanding high school student. The scholarship will be awarded to a Girl Scout who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, community service, and academic excellence.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Girl Scouts of Connecticut to offer this scholarship, celebrating their commitment to leadership, service, and integrity—values that align perfectly with Quinnipiac’s mission and the extraordinary potential of these distinguished young women. We are equally proud of our ongoing collaboration through pre-college programs like Camp CEO, which brings Girl Scouts from across the state to Quinnipiac for a five-day overnight experience.” said Thomas E. Ellett, Chief Experience Officer at Quinnipiac University.
Ellett notes that the scholarship award is renewable up to four years of full-time undergraduate study, bringing the total to $92,000 toward Quinnipiac University tuition.
To apply, Girl Scouts must:
Meet all admissions criteria at the time of application.
Verify that they have been a member of Girl Scouts of Connecticut for five years or have been a recipient of the Bronze, Silver of Gold Award from the Council.
Maintain full-time undergraduate enrollment status throughout their studies.
Ellett also emphasizes that if the Girl Scout candidate qualifies for another Quinnipiac University tuition award that exceeds the $23,000 per year, they will be awarded the higher of the two. Additionally, scholarships may not be combined and may only be applied toward tuition.
“At Girl Scouts of Connecticut, we are dedicated to preparing girls for a lifetime of leadership and success,” said Elicia Pegues Spearman, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “We are deeply grateful to Quinnipiac University for this extraordinary partnership that invests in our Girl Scouts’ futures and helps turn their college dreams into reality.”
Girl Scouts of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University also collaborate on the nonprofit organization’s Annual Camp CEO, a weeklong, summer business immersion course in which high school students experience campus living, take classes from Quinnipiac University business professors and learn about potential career choices from top female CEOs and professional mentors from around the state.
The total estimated cost for a first-year, on-campus student at Quinnipiac University is $79,360.
