Enfield, CT — Local Girl Scouts are spreading cheer this season by giving back to their community in meaningful ways.
Daisy Troop 10768 recently completed their Good Neighbor badge by assembling 12 Birthday Boxes for donation to the Enfield Food Shelf. Each box was designed to provide families with the essentials for a celebration, including cake mix, frosting, a can of Sprite, candles, a birthday banner, balloons, and a party blower. The project ensures that children and families facing food insecurity can still enjoy the joy of a birthday party.
In addition, members of a local Junior Troop prepared 6 Thanksgiving bags for the Food Shelf as part of their advancement work. Each bag contained traditional holiday staples such as pie crust and filling, cornbread mix, apple juice, stuffing, gravy, mashed potato mix, green beans, cranberry jelly, corn, and yams. These donations will help provide families with the ingredients for a festive holiday meal.
Together, the efforts of Enfield’s Girl Scouts highlight Girl Scouts’ commitment to service and community engagement. The Enfield Food Shelf will distribute the boxes and bags to local families, helping to brighten birthdays and holidays alike.
