Fairfield, CT — Cadette Troop 30441 has found a creative way to combine friendship, skill-building, and service through their new monthly initiative called community cooking.
Each month, groups of six Cadettes rotate responsibilities to prepare food for local organizations. The troop has already baked brownies for nOURish Bridgeport and assembled lunches for Operation Hope, two nonprofits dedicated to supporting families in need. Their next gathering, scheduled for November 18, will focus on baking pies for nOURish, continuing their commitment to providing comfort through food.
The program began this fall, with the troop’s October 14 baking session marking the first official event. By working together in small teams, the scouts not only learn practical cooking skills but also experience the impact of their efforts on the wider community.
Through this ongoing project, Troop 30441 demonstrates how service can be woven into everyday activities, turning shared meals into opportunities for compassion and connection. Their contributions help ensure that local families receive both nourishment and a reminder that their neighbors care.
